Our herd of belted galloway cattle are 100% grass fed, start to finish. Belted Galloway are a heritage breed of cattle that originate from Scotland. They are very hardy animals with a thick hair coat which makes them well suited for our cold Vermont winters. Being slightly smaller framed animals they thrive on a grass fed diet and produce very flavorful meat with a good amount of fat. When the grass is growing we use a management intensive grazing program to rotate them daily onto fresh pasture. During the colder months we unroll bales of hay into wind rows right on top of the snow. This allows us to keep the herd out on pasture year round, distributing their manure for us.
